Abandoned villages

There's an interesting story on BBC about ex-villages - the publisher Collins would like to create a digital archive about these villages. Do you have a genealogical interest in a place that no longer exists? Some of these were abandoned relatively recently as a result of military involvement, so now is the time to ensure memories and information about those places aren't lost.

Wow, this articles brings back the good ol' memories. Articles that talk about historical settlements and how globalization has changed them, really amaze me. It also brings good vibes when you find out that some of the villagers are running in your bloodline. It is sad though that because of commercialization and globalization, these settlements were driven away to pave way for commercial areas.
