St. François Xavier
Country | Canada |
Province | Manitoba |
Study Area | St. François Xavier |
About the Study | The parish of St. François Xavier was established in 1824 and the Rural Municipality was formed in 1880. It is one of the oldest settlements in Manitoba and was originally called Grantown, after its founder, the Metis leader Cuthbert Grant.
I started this study in 2012 because I loved the idea of a one place study. St. François Xavier seemed like a good choice due to its fairly small size, its proximity to Winnipeg (where I live) and the fact that several of my ancestors lived there. |
Population | The population in 2001 was 1,024. |
