Study Description

The Pastures are seven streets of back to back houses in Chapel Allerton, the houses are some of the last back to back houses to be built in the UK. They were built in phases from about 1904 – 1935.

The 1911 and 1921 censuses and the 1939 Register will provide the background to the families living in The Pastures.

My grandfather moved as a boy, with his parents, to one of the newly built houses in about 1904, he then married and his parents moved out so my grandfather could bring up his family in the house.

I will draw on the oral history of my mother.
