The Green at Kings Norton is fairly well known for its medieval buildings of St Nicolas Place and Old Grammar School (adjacent to the medieval church of St Nicolas) which received national attention when they received restoration funding after winning BBC’s 2004’s Restoration programme. The other buildings of The Green are also a significant part of this corner of parish life; some have been so for longer than others, and all reflect the fascinating social, economic and architectural history of The Green. Most are now retail or commercial in character, others are partly or wholly residential. Their history is integral to the history and development of this centre of Kings Norton, and will hopefully shine a light on the stories of the people associated with them across the years.
