Strathmiglo is a village and a parish in North East Fife and lies on the River Eden. Many of my ancestors lived and worked there which has led me to want to know more about the village. Due to its location it was ideal for the manufacture of linen which some of my family worked in. Initially using census data I’m researching who lived where and what their occupations were. How many worked in agriculture, in the linen industry and who the owners of the factories were. Also looking at the social side of life in the village and how things have changed throughout the centuries. As I now live in France most of my research will be either via books or online. My own family history has helped in gathering some information but now want to expand to the wider community.
