The Society for One-Place Studies is delighted to be supporting All About That Place (AATP) 2026 as a Platinum Sponsor, helping to make this free online family history event available to researchers around the world.

All About That Place, organised by the Society of Genealogists, celebrates the power of place in family and local history – from streets, buildings and landscapes to the communities, records and stories that help us understand how people lived.

Across the event, which runs over 10 days from Wednesday 7th to Friday 16th October, you’ll be able to enjoy more than a hundred free talks, plus activities and opportunities to explore local and family history, with plenty of ideas to inspire your own research.

The Society for One-Place Studies encourages researchers to explore the history of a particular place in depth, bringing together people, families, buildings, records, maps and local stories to understand how a community developed over time. Supporting All About That Place is a natural fit with that approach.

As a Platinum Sponsor, the Society for One-Place Studies is also supporting AATP’s Health and Medicine Day (Day 2 of the event), helping researchers discover how place-based evidence can add context to the lives, health and experiences of past communities. This theme also ties in with something the Society will be launching in 2027 – stay tuned for more on that at a later date.

In addition to our sponsorship, we will be supporting All About That Place in other ways. The October 2026 issue of our members’ journal Destinations will be a special AATP edition, with articles linked to themes featured across the ten days of All About That Place. Watch out for a special announcement about this issue of Destinations, during AATP.

Finally, for anyone – including non-members – who wishes to chat online with other one-placers about one-place studies after All About That Place has concluded, a special #OnePlaceWednesday LIVE will take place on Wednesday 28th October.
