This is my attempt to find towns and cities across the world with the words from the song The Twelve Days of Christmas in the names. We’re on Day Five, and today I get a real treat, because my True Love buys me Five Gold Rings. I bet you sang that line in your head, didn’t you? It’s ok, so did I.

I am honestly THRILLED to be able to report that there are five places in the world called Gold!! Yes, that’s (sing it with me) FIVE GOLD PLACENAMES! In fact, in India, there is even a Gold and a Ring in close proximity!

The Five Golds are in Texas, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, USA; Campania, Italy; and Jammu and Kashmir, India.

Global Ring placenames include Ostergotlands Lan, Sweden; both Wexford and Waterford, Ireland; both Sjelland and Midtjylland, Denmark; Wisconsin, USA; Jammu and Kashmir, India.

Do you know anywhere actually called Gold Ring? That would top my discoveries, so definitely let me know in the comments!

I’m going to be honest, I’m not sure that it’s going to get any better than “Five Gold Placenames”, but I’m going to give it a try. Onwards to tomorrow and day six’s geese.
