This is my attempt to find towns and cities across the world with the words from the song The Twelve Days of Christmas in the names. Day Six now and the True Love buys Six Geese A-Laying.
Now, how on earth did my True Love manage to wrangle getting six geese - ones laying eggs, no less - into some sort of container in order to present them to me?! It’s an impressive feat!
Onto the matter at hand, and it’s an altogether disappointing day for placenames! Worldwide, there aren’t any places called Geese at all, nor are there any places called Laying. There isn’t even any places which have laying at the start of them; no Laying Trees or Laying River or Laying Lakes, which was a surprise to me.
There is a Goose in (where else?) Newfoundland, Canada, which almost makes up for the lack of Geese.
Honourable mentions also go to Geeseytown in Pennsylvania, United States of America and Geeserstroom, Drenthe, Netherlands, both of which I enjoyed a lot!
Have I missed an obvious Geese place? Let me know in the comments!
Tomorrow is the last of the birds, and hopefully will be more fruitful…
