Study Description 

Eldorado, originally Eldereado, is a town in the southern Illinois county of Saline. Originally settled by Samuel Elder and Joseph Read. The town was largely a coal mining community with a south-central neighborhood of mining company houses. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, Eldorado had a large Scots-Irish and Polish population and offered a newspaper in Polish.
