Using an 1859 map of Conquest Centre, Cayuga COunty, NY, we are identifying the homes, shops, churches, and farms of the village, we are working to build a fuller portrait of the people who lived and worked there—farmers, merchants, innkeepers, blacksmiths, doctors, and more. Each name on the map holds a story waiting to be uncovered: where they came from, how they built their lives, and how they connected with others in this close-knit community.
