Study Description

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum OPS captures employees, patients, doctors. Many of the patients have gone undocumented and this study hopes to find them and document their lives.

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is a historic psychiatric hospital in Weston, West Virginia. The asylum was originally intended to hold 250 patients, but it eventually became overcrowded, with over 2,400 patients at its peak in the 1950’s. The asylum was forcibly closed in 1994 due to changes in patient treatment, and it has been vacant since then.

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum is now a popular tourist destination, and it is open for tours and other events. The asylum is also a popular spot for paranormal investigators, who claim that the building is haunted.
