This one-place study focuses on the village of Doren in the Bregenzerwald, Vorarlberg, Austria, during the 18th and 19th centuries. Lying in an Alpine valley near the Bavarian border, it experienced frequent interaction with nearby villages. From 1497 to 1853 it was included in Sulzberg parish, where the earliest records are found. Separate records began with the establishment of the village church in 1823.
