Study Description

Project to collect as much history about Manea under the ‘Manea Archive & Library’ banner. Manea was, and is, an agricultural village within Fenland which is on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border. All aspects of village history are being collected including its land, property, and its people.

The Project was started in 2015 and contains a Library of village magazines & publications dating from the 1970’s to present day and numerous documents, containing photographs, have been written up covering various aspects of village history. In addition lists have been compiled containing the names of residents primarily taken from the UK Census returns 1841-1921, 1939, and Kelly’s directories.

Documents, such as property deeds, have been seen from a small number of the older properties and extracts taken building up a picture of how, and when, the village grew.

Recollections from our older villagers have been documented but unfortunately we have lost quite a few in the recent years reducing the amount of first hand history that can be collected.

Research is ongoing.
