Study Description 

St Lawrence’s Hospital formally known as Cornwall County Asylum located in Bodmin, Cornwall.
From 1820 to 1948, the hospital was managed by a Committee of Visitors. Cornwall County Council took over the management of the hospital in 1929 and changed the name to Cornwall County Mental Hospital.
In 1948, the hospital became part of the NHS and was re-named St Lawrence’s Hospital. The hospital closed in 2002 and its functions were taken over by new units in Bodmin and Redruth.
