Study Description

Moreleigh (or Morleigh) is a village in the South Hams area of south Devon. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book and, as one of the manors belonging to John Parker, 2nd Baron Boringdon, it gave its name to his newly acquired title, Earl of Morley, in 1815.Formerly a parish in its own right, since 1988 it has formed a joint parish with nearby Halwell. However, my study will focus on the people, history and natural environment of Morleigh up to the mid 20th century.
