Study Description

Windrush is a small Cotswold village lying on the eastern edge of Gloucestershire close to the border with Oxfordshire. It lies about 3 miles west of the small Oxfordshire town of Burford and sits on the southern banks of the River Windrush. Most of the population worked in agriculture but there is quarry of white oolite building stone to the east of the village where many people worked.

This study will look at the families living in the village during the period many of my paternal grandmothers ancestors lived there, their social and living conditions and migration in and out of the village.
