This study will cover the village of Wrockwardine rather than the Parish of Wrockwardine which covers a much larger area 55,392 hectares and has a population of almost 6,000 people. Wrockwardine village itself has a much smaller population than the parish and currently consists of approx 130 dwellings. Burcot and Tiddicross will be included in the study as both are just a short distance from the main village. Tiddicross was for some time the workhouse for the area and will be very interesting to research. I aim to study the history of the older buildings in the village including: St. Peter’s Church, The Old Cottage, the Alms Houses, the Old Rectory, Wrockwardine Hall, both old school buildings and the Village Hall. I will be extracting data from the census returns and putting together family trees for past residents and utilising other online resources such as the Parish Records from the church and the school registers, both of which are available online.
