Study Description

My ancestral village of Agios Ioannis, Sparta, was the birthplace of three of my four grandparents. As such, I have a relationship with most families in the village. I have been researching intensively in Sparta for the past 10 years, and have collected all extant records for my village. I am putting together the family trees, and have been collecting written information about my village. This work resulted in my website, AgiosIoannis.wordpress.com and its accompanying Facebook page. I am very excited about this project! All of my ancestors are from Spartan villages, going back to the beginning of records in the modern Greek state, 1821, and I am researching my family in these villages; however, my focus remains on Agios Ioannis.
