Study Description

The first immigrant to Rochester, New York from Putyatyntsi, Ukraine was Hrynko Pakula in 1902. In total, 320 villagers followed in Hrynko’s footsteps and made this migratory journey. They left an indelible mark on Rochester, as well as on their home village.

This is a curated selection of information, photos and documents about the emigrant families and their contributions. This study is meant to be collaborative. I welcome assistance adding relevant archival materials for the benefit of the generations of children who are descendants of these community pioneers.
