The parish of Llangiwg in the North West of Glamorgan was a mostly rural area that has seen the effects of coal mining and industrialization. Nonconformity played a significant role in the area, and has left a mark on the history and families there. Movement of people in and out of the parish has changed the community in multiple ways. This study stretches from days when the lord of the manor and the church influenced and controlled people’s lives to the present.
