This year, the Who Do You Think You Are? Live Show was in a very different place. Gone are the days when the annual family and local history show was entirely organised by the Society of Genealogists and - in yesteryear - was held at The Royal Horticultural Halls. Then came the involvement of the BBC and off we all went to Olympia, London. What a grand place that seemed to be! A huge step up, in size and cost....!

For many years now, WYDYTA has been the place to be to find out more about this pastime, hobby, obsession of ours.... Did the Society have a stand, you might ask? As a worldwide and inherently online society, no - mainly due to the rather large charge made for stands - but we were certainly omnipresent with society members in various places, on family and local history society stands around the large conference venue of the NEC (Birmingham).

We had a small gathering of society members in a pleasant watering hole over lunch and discussed all things one-place. Some of our members were spreading the one-place word through their presentations or their conversations with other show-goers. The show is a great place to be. You can see what societies and some of the large genealogical commercial firms have on offer. You can hear about the hottest genealogical news. This year, it was when exactly the event was to be held in 2016 - an ever movable feast it seemed. In fact, the decision has now been made - 7-9 April back at the NEC. So, will you be there? Three whole days (or even just one) of listening to a wide range of presentations from top class lecturers, having your questions answered by experts in the field, purchasing the latest must-haves and best of all, chatting with like minded people - what's not to like?
