As you all know, social media is an essential part of our making ourselves known in the history community and of sharing ideas, stories, research and general fun amongst ourselves and like-minded others. As you also all know, social media is in a state of flux as various sites and platforms change their nature and target audience and users try out different sites in search of one with a lively and appropriate discussion. The proliferation of sites in recent months has made this more difficult. We currently have an active presence on Facebook, Bluesky, Threads and X/Twitter and a less active presence on Instagram. We are also looking into TicTok and…who knows! On the other hand, the Pinterest site has seen little activity and will be wound down.

Our activity on these various platforms has been co-ordinated with great aplomb and much corny wit by Steve Jackson, our social media co-ordinator, ably assisted by Liz Craig. Steve has made a huge contribution to our social media presence via the blogging prompts, #OnePlaceWednesday and generally seeking out and responding to all things #OnePlaceStudies related on social media. Unfortunately Steve has for personal reasons decided to step down from the committee at present. His contributions will be missed. Thankfully he is happy to continue posting in his normal corny manner, at least for the present, for which we are very grateful. Thank you Steve.
