This is my attempt to find towns and cities across the world with the words from the song The Twelve Days of Christmas in the names. Day Ten is Lords A-Leaping.

Lords, Westminster, UK appears to be the only Lords in the world. I had long believed that Lourdes in France was the French word for Lord as it is a place of Christian Pilgrimage, but I have now learned that this is totally wrong! The placename Lourdes originates from the personal name Lorus, which was the Baptismal name of a Moorish leader who converted to Christianity and gave the town it’s name. Every day really is a school day!

I was a little surprised to find that there are no precipices, cliffs or other high areas called Lord’s Leap or something similar, but I did find a cottage in the Lake District in the North of England called Lord’s Leap.

No Leaping anywhere either, but two Leaps exist in Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia and Cork, Ireland.

Anyone spot any Lords or Leaping anywhere that I haven’t got? Let us know!

PS, I can’t guarantee the gentleman in the photo is a Lord.
