This is my attempt to find towns and cities across the world with the words from the song The Twelve Days of Christmas in the names. We’re on Day Two, and the True Love in the song is really throwing out a challenge for me today: Two Turtle Doves.

Well, there’s not a single place called Turtledove or Turtledoves (with or without the space in between turtle and dove). Separating the words out though, I came across three Turtles, all of which are in the United States of America again! This time, they are in North Carolina, Missouri and Michigan.

I had much better luck with Dove as a placename, finding a whopping six Dove places across the world. These are in Missouri & Alabama, USA; Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe; Papua New Guinea; Portland, Jamaica; Volta, Ghana.

Join us tomorrow for Day Three!

Know anywhere called Turtledove? Or any more Turtles or Doves? Drop them in the comments!

PS, I’m pretty confident the image I’ve used isn’t actually a turtledove… but you try finding a photo of a turtledove on a stock image website! It’s a dove of some sort, so that’s got to count for something?!
