Over the course of April we are exploring the studies registered with the Society for One-Place Studies featuring those that correspond to the relevant letter of the alphabet.

What is a One Place Study? That is a fine question and rather than me explain, I will refer you to the Society’s informative website. If you are interested in joining us and /or registering a study we of course welcome you. You can find the joining information HERE.

G is for...

Gelderland (Bredevoort) Netherlands: We head across Europe to The Netherlands, where the town of Bredevoort and the surrounding parishes in the province of Gelderland are being studied by Yvette, who has registered her study with the Society for One-Place Studies.

The study is aiming to reconstruct the parishioners between 1500 and 1900 and to establish what happened to the 6,000 individuals who left the region between 1840 and 1920. You can visit the study website to find out more.

Well, that sounds a fascinating study. If your ancestors hailed from this region, or if you would simply like to know the catalyst for such migration, then drop an email to Yvette.
